Director Flanagan Marks First day of Shooting Netflix’s ‘Midnight Mass’ With Set Photo

 Mike Flanagan is one of the best and amazing storytellers in Hollywood. This time he is back with a new Netflix series Midnight Mass. He is an American director, writer, and producer. Flanagan is the man behind the successful series of Netflix, The Haunting of Hill House. He also made terrific movies like Oculus and Doctor Sleep. Flanagan announced that he has started filming the next series Midnight Mass. In this article, we will try to discover the story of the new series and how the production team will manage the shooting in this tough time.


The story revolves around a living community on an island that has experienced frightening events after a mysterious priest’s arrival. Flanagan marked the beginning of shooting with a set of pictures of the slate for the series. The longtime cinematographer of Flanagan, Michael Fimognari, will be part of the crew as director of photography. The production is slowly coming back to the track. But the question arises how they are managing the shoot in this pandemic. Although things are becoming routine in the UK, and hence the filming of the series of The Witcher Season 2 and Jurassic World: Dominion is possible. But in the U.S., things are still proceeding slowly, so how will the team manage to start the production.

The Midnight Mass was scheduled to start this past March in Vancouver. But it was halted because of the COVID-19. The cast of the series includes Annabeth Gish, Zach Gilford, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, and Hamish Linklater. Mike Flanagan is slated to direct all the episodes of the show. He is known for some fantastic craftwork. Legends like Quentin Tarantino, Stephen King, and William Friedkin praised his work and direction. He directed the first film after graduation titled Ghosts of Hamilton Street in 2003. Mike wrote, directed, and edited the psychological horror movie Gerald’s game, which was based on the novel of 1992 of the same title by Stephen King. The film was released on  29th November 2017. After watching the film, King called the movie hypnotic, terrific, and horrifying. He also directed and wrote the horror film Doctor Sleep, which is based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. His project The Haunting of Hill House was a hit series on Netflix. The audience is eagerly waiting for the Midnight Mass to release. Flanagan has also returned with the showrunner The Haunting of Bly Manor, which is the sequel of The Haunting of the Hill House. The Haunting of Bly Manor based on the novel of Henry James titled The Turn of the Screw. However, none of the characters will reappear from the hit Netflix series. The Hill House was based on the work of Shirley Jackson, whereas Bly Manor is based on the work of Henry Thomas. The fans could expect to watch the series later this year.
