 Black Widow is an upcoming superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This movie is also based on Marvel comics, just like the other MCU movies. In this film, the famous Hollywood actress Scarlet Johansson is playing the role of Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff. This film is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige. For the first time, Scarlet appeared on the big screen in the movie, Iron Man 2, in the year 2010. From there, she gained a huge fan following, popularity, and fame. Later, she became an essential part and the first lady superhero of the team Avengers. Black Widow is going to be the first solo movie of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow.

Captain America is another key member of the team Avengers. The famous Hollywood actor Chris Evans is playing the role of Captain America in the Avengers movie as Steve Rogers. According to the fans, there is a possibility of Captain America to be involved in the film Black Widow. In the movie Avengers: Endgame, the role of Captain America was ended, but still, there is a chance that the fans could see him again in Black Widow.

After a long journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Scarlet finally got a chance in her first solo movie for MCU. The storyline of the film is the time and events between the film, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Steve and Natasha first met in the movie The Avengers. They shared a very different bond as compared to the other members of the team. Black Widow was also involved in the last two solo movies of Captain America.

During the time between the films Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America refused to sign the Sokovia Accords along with his other mates, and all were separated at the end of the film. Hawkeye and the Ant-Man had a deal with the government to be with their families. Steve kept himself busy in these two years before Thanos came to the Earth to acquire the Infinity Stones.

Natasha was at Steve’s side during the film, Captain America: Civil War. She was seen already with Captain America and Falcon without showing in the movie that when Steve joined them. In the upcoming film, Black Widow, it may be possible to know when Natasha contacted Steve Rogers to join them by the end of the movie.

How Captain America Can Feature In Black Widow

Natasha Romanoff shares a more personal friendship bond with Hawkeye and Bruce Banner/Hulk. She also had a romantic scene with Bruce Banner. It could be a great idea to reveal the hidden fact that when Captain America joined Natasha Romanoff. Even there is a possibility that Steve can play a small cameo in this film.

Why Captain America Probably Won’t Appear In Black Widow

It could be great news for the fans who want to see Captain America once again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe if he plays even a small cameo role in the upcoming film, Black Widow. It would also not create any issue in the continuity of the series. However, if we consider the movie Avengers: Endgame, then there are nearly impossible chances of giving a physical role to Captain America in Black Widow. It might create problems in moving the story onto Phase 4 if Marvel brings back Steve Rogers. To enter onto a new Phase, Marvel has to leave Captain America behind. It would be the probable reason for Captain America not appearing in Black Widow.

Nia DaCosta to Direct Captain Marvel 2

 Apparently, as Deadline has reported, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who had written as well as directed the first installment of the Captain Marvel franchise, will no longer be at the helm of the sequel.

Marvel is reported to be interested in an indie film director named Nia DaCosta, who is gearing up to release her upcoming horror flick Candyman. Marvel head Kevin Feige has already met the director, and DaCosta is currently the favorite to steer the wheel for Captain Marvel’s next installment. 

Megan McDonnell has reportedly already written a script. She has also been a staff writer of Disney Plus’s WandaVision. Nia DaCosta is a talented director who is known for directing independent films and, in 2019, released her first feature film titled Little Woods starring Tessa Thompson and Lily James. Previously she had directed a couple of episodes of British crime drama titled Top Boy.

These are exciting times for DaCosta, who is eagerly awaiting the release of her upcoming film Candyman written by the famed writer of Get Out, Jordan Peele.

This has been a new addition to the movement started by Hollywood to give female directors a chance to prove their virtuosity. This is the third case where a female is directing a superhero film after Chloe Zhao of Marvel’s upcoming Eternals and Cathy Yan, who was with DC’s Birds of Prey.

Just to jog up your memory, Captain Marvel was released on 8th March 2019 and had bagged around 1.1 billion US dollars from the box office, making it the highest-grossing female-led superhero film.

Marvel is also in the hunt for a new face of the franchise after both Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evan bid farewell to the most successful franchise of the 21st century in 2019. Before Avengers Endgame, Joe Russo did publicly state that Captain Marvel will be the most powerful hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so perhaps Brie Larson might be the one to take Robert Downey Jr. place as the face of the franchise.

However, she has serious competition with talented actors like Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow, and Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda. Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Doctor Strange, is also loved by all.

Kevin Feige stated in 2019 that there were 20 films waiting in line for Marvel Phase 4 plans, and they are highly committed to creating more powerful female characters in the future.
