How to Fix the No SIM Card Detected Error in Android

No SIM Card Detected,” there is no need to panic whenever you come across this error on your Android device. As this could be fixed very easily and you won’t even require a technician for this, you can fix this one yourself. Now, there could be many reasons why this error is occurring. Unfortunately, there is no way to know the exact cause of this error, except until the Android itself sends you the message stating the reason. For your guessing, it might be your SIM card that is not inserted correctly or maybe there is some issue with the software of your Android device. Whatever might be the reason, here are some fixes that you can hit and try to resolve the issue.

The Basics

If a software issue is causing your SIM card error, then most probably, a simple reboot will fix the problem. To reboot your Android device, long-press the power button until you see a pop-up window with the “Restart” option. Tap on it and your device will restart. Another thing that might be causing the error is as minor as a switched off SIM card. This generally happens with the latest Android devices where you have to switch on your SIM card from the settings. You can do so by going to Settings > Network & Internet > SIM cards. Here, toggle to slider next to your SIM card to “On” position.

Change the Network Mode to Auto

You can also try to modify the network to auto mode. To do so, go to Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode. Here, you will see a list of network options, select the first one which should be named as LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect).

Enter Your Network APN Settings Manually

In case, the methods discussed above didn’t help you then probably your SIM card has lost contact with the network it should be connecting to. If that is the case, then you will have to enter your network operator’s APN settings manually.

On Android devices 9.0 Pie and above, you can enter the APN settings by navigating to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network > Advanced > Access point names. Here, click the ‘+’ icon at the top-right corner. After this, a pop-up window will appear. Here, you will have to enter APN settings. You can get these details either from your network provider or online, given that your network provider has published the details online.

Remove the SIM Card and Battery

This should have done before trying out any other method. But anyway, removing your SIM card and battery and then reinserting them will rule out the possibility of an incorrectly placed SIM card. Before doing this, please ensure that your Android device is turned off. After removing both battery and the SIM card, wait for at least one minute and re-insert everything again.

In case you dropped your phone and then facing the SIM card detection error, then perhaps, the fall has moved your SIM card out of place if not physically damaged your phone. People use a cheap and unique fix to this issue by adding some paper or tape to set the SIM card in place.

Try Using Your Phone in Safe Mode

Some applications cause more problems than good to your device, resulting in errors like SIM card not detected. Try booting your Android device into a safe mode. After a few years of being in safe mode, check if the error still occurs. If it does, uninstall the last few apps that you installed on the device and check if the problem continues. It could be possible that one of these newly installed applications are causing conflict between your device and its network connection.

Airplane Mode Solution

If none of the above methods resolves the error, then another thing to try out is the Airplane mode. Swipe down from the top of your display, and tap the airplane icon to turn it on. You may leave the Airplane mode on for around thirty seconds and then turn it off. Once off, your device will start looking for a network and if you are lucky this time, you will find that the SIM card error is fixed.

Fix the SIM Card Error by Clearing the Cache

If nothing else, clearing cache from your Android device should fix the no SIM card error. Navigate to “Settings” in your Android device. Now, tap “Storage,” then select “Internal Storage.” You will see an option named Cached Data, tap on that. After this, a pop-up screen will appear telling that clearing cache will clear the cache for all the apps on your device. Simply, tap on “Delete” to get done.

We hope that one of the above methods did hit right for you and the error do not show up anymore

How to Fix Camera Not Available Error on Mac

Errors like “No camera connected” or “No camera available” on Mac go away as quickly as they come. So, there is no need to panic whenever you face such an error during an important video call. In case your Mac’s built-in camera is facing trouble, you may try one of the easy fixes that we are about to discuss in this article.

Is the Camera in Use By Another App?

The camera can be used by one app or program at a given time on your Mac. Most of us generally forget about this fact and get hassled when the error message pops up on the screen. That said, always examine whether any camera-based applications like Skype, Photo Booth, FaceTime, or another app is running either in the foreground or background of your Mac. If yes, then close the ones that are not required at the moment.

To check whether one of those applications is running in the background, you may go to the Activity Monitor by pressing Command + Space. If you see any extra apps running, you can close it from the Activity Monitor by selecting the application in the list, and then clicking “x” at the top left corner.

Force Quit VDCAssistant and AppleCameraAssistant

Restarting the processes like “VDCAssistant” and “AppleCameraAssistant” can fix this error right away. VDCAssistant and AppleCameraAssistant are camera-based programs running in the background whenever you use the built-in camera in your Mac. If these processes face any complications, several applications like FaceTime, iMovie, Messages, and Skype will be affected.

Follow the steps below to force quit VDCAssistant and AppleCameraAssistant:

Step 1. First of all, close all the camera-based applications running on your Mac.

Step 2. Click the Spotlight Search icon, type Terminal, then hit Enter to launch it.

Step 3. Type: “sudo killall VDCAssistant,” then press Enter.

Step 4. Now, type: “sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant,” hit Enter again.

This will stop both the processes. Once done, you may launch a camera-based application to see if the problem is resolved.

Adjust Your Camera Settings

System preferences of a Mac does not have a camera section to adjust settings directly through your PC. However, you can adjust the camera settings from the applications, as most of the camera-based apps allow modifications in their settings. Apps like FaceTime and Skype ask which camera you want to use for video calls. In such cases, you should make sure that the built-in camera is selected.

Reboot Your Computer

Rebooting your Mac could be another quick fix for you. While doing so, consider shutting down your Mac completely rather than choosing the Restart option. Shutting down your Mac while rebooting is always preferred because this way, Mac will be able to clear the RAM and end all processes. This will also end the processes that might be interfering with your camera.

Update Your Software

There is a possibility that your camera might not be working with a specific camera-based app. If this is the case, then it is probably because the affected application is not compatible with your camera. For example, if you are unable to make video calls using the Skype app, then either you or the person you are contacting has an outdated version of Skype. That said, both parties must use an updated version of the app.

The same could be a problem with your operating system. If you haven’t updated your Mac to the latest version available, it is likely to face such issues. So, consider updating your Mac at the earliest possible.

We hope that you are now able to connect to your camera and family over video calls on your Mac.

Google Home: 3 Common Connection Issues and How to Fix Them Easily

If you have been using Google Home for quite some time, then you might feel frustrated when it stops working due to connection issues. However, there are a few things that you can do to fix this problem. So, today we are going over three common Google Home connection issues and ways to solve them easily.

Yes, it may look like stupid/weird advice, but it can surely help you out if your Google Home speaker cannot communicate with your Google Home app. So, do use this trick if you are facing this problem.

Problem 2: Google Home Can’t Connect to Your Smart Home

If you have been using Google Home for some time, you might find it very annoying to use switches to use your devices and gadgets like smart bulbs, lights, etc. Yes, you can try to reboot your modem, device, and Google Home speaker to fix this problem, and it might even help you solve this problem. But if this method does not work, you can solve this problem by unlinking and relinking your connected devices. To do this:

  1. Launch the app (Google Home app).
  2. Hit the settings or gear icon.
  3. Now scroll down to the bottom.
  4. Click on the “Works with Google” option and locate the device that is not working or quit working.
  5. Tap on the device and then click on the “Unlink account” option.

Sometimes Google Home can’t complete your commands like play music, turn off lights and respond with this message “Oops, something went wrong. “So, if this is the case, you can solve this problem by rebooting your device, speaker, and modem. However, if this does not solve your problem, then you might be facing this problem due to server-side error.

Why? Because your commands are processed remotely by Google servers, and if they went down, then you may face this problem on your Google Home speaker. To check if this is the case, you can go to DownDetector.com and see if other users are reporting similar issues there or not.

Conclusion There can be many reasons behind Google Home connection problems, but we can easily solve these problems with proper knowledge and patience.
