How to Save Time While Working With Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular software used for editing images and enables you to create something new out of it. It works for both Windows and Mac and has many features that are an interesting part of this software.

If you’re a beginner, this software will seem a very complex activity, but once you get used to it, it gets a lot more interesting.

Reaching out for its tools and working with the same can be a bit time consuming. Thus, there are ways you can boost its performance and manage your time as well, which we shall discuss below.

Optimizing Photoshop’s performance

You can make the best of Photoshop, yet there is scope for its optimization. The steps to boost the performance of Photoshop are:

  1. If you’re a Windows user, click on the ‘Preferences’ button under the ‘Edit’ tab. Next, click on the ‘Performance’ option. If you’re a Mac user, open the Photoshop software and click on the ‘Preferences’ button. Next, click on the ‘Performance’ option present on the left toolbar of the screen.
  1. You may increase the limit for ‘Memory Usage’ as more the RAM, better the performance.
  2. Using a Graphic processor can boost the performance while working with the Photoshop software. Go to the ‘Use Graphics Processor’ and click on the ‘Advanced’ button under the ‘Advanced Graphics Processor Settings.’

Once you’re done making optimization changes, restart Photoshop to save.

Work with the Keyboard shortcuts

As mentioned above, Photoshop has a lot of features or menus that each time you try to discover, it unfolds something new. This takes a lot of time while you’re searching for some specific tool to work with, thus, you’ll have to go through a whole list of features.

Keyboard shortcuts not only make it easy but quick and time saving. Learning Keyboard shortcuts can take time, but once you’re fluent with it, it seems like the best option ever.

Set up a workspace

Photoshop automatically displays the tools that are widely used and common, known as ‘Essentials’ workspace. But using these tools may vary for a photographer and a designer. Thus, the workspace can be customized according to your convenience under the ‘Workspace’ tab. It offers you six options, and the tools that come along with them are specialized for that particular field. You may also put together a panel that suits you the most.

You can create your own workspace and press and drag panels to arrange them accordingly. For adding new panels, click on the ‘Window’ option on the top of the screen and choose the one you want to add. If you want to delete a panel, right-click on its name and tap on the ‘Close’ option.

Once you’re done, open a new workspace to work with a new project.

Use a Graphics tablet

Using a Graphics tablet while working with editing software is a convenient option as it enables you to work smoothly with the images. You have a lot more control over editing with the help of a Graphics tablet than a mouse.

Practice

Using various techniques to save time and easy workflow is fine, but the practice is what makes you perfect in achieving the goals. As much as you practice, you’ll build a workflow that maximizes your speed and helps you take quick actions.
