Here Is a Treasure Chest of All Critically Acclaimed Classic Movies on Netflix

Netflix is a platform which has offered its viewers with new, engaging and original content. However, few people are in love with movies belonging to the old-school cinema. These people love the idea of the 80’s romance, or the 90’s action and Netflix delivers it to them in the comfort of a house.

A classic movie is a work of art that sticks around in the mind of an audience and critics for its content, acting and well-executed scenes. Its story is something that resonates with the masses on a completely different level. So, here is a list of critically-acclaimed classic movies available on Netflix that are universal favourites and so great that they belong to the ages.

Jurassic Park

Helmed by legendary filmmaker Steven Filmmaker, this 1993 sci-fi blockbuster should be on your classic films list. Jurassic Park takes you back in time with its story of bringing back dinosaurs to the modern world. This adventure film will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Set on Isla Nublar, a fictional Island, this classic follows the story of a businessman John Hammond and a team of genetic scientists. They create a wildlife amusement park filled with dinosaurs. Sounds realistic enough? Wait till you watch the dinosaurs running around and creating havoc in the lives of visitors stranded on the island.

Goodfellas

Starring Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci in pivotal roles, this 90’s crime drama are one of the very few films that have made a mark after being adapted from a book—excited enough? Well, you should be because this film talks about the rise and fall of a gangster Henry Hill and his associate from the late 1950s to 1980. That’s all you need to know about the story before you sit down and watch it with popcorn.

The Shining

Are you a sucker for spooky tales? Do you like eerie and deserted places that give a strange feeling? If yes, The Shining is a “jump out of your skin” horror film that will compel you to look under the bed before sleeping.

The Stanley Kubrick helmed horror flick has an unsettling plot that follows the story of the Torrance family and their experience in the hotel of horrors. The film’s central character, Jack Torrance, an aspiring writer, takes up a job in an isolated hotel that has a horrific past. To know more about the trauma the characters go through, watch the film with the lights on!

If you can sit through a horror film adapted from a book written by Stephen King, then you take on anything in the world.

Silence of the Lambs

This psychological horror Academy awards winner has shown some stellar performances by Jodi Foster and Anthony Hopkins. Foster plays the role of an FBI agent to perfection when her character gets assigned to ask an incarcerated serial killer’s help in a murder investigation.

Staying true to the role of a convict, Hopkins manipulates Jodi’s character into thinking that he wants to help her. However, the convict, Hannibal Hector’s main goal is to leave the confines of his jail cell. The performances are what holds this Jonathan Demme directed cinematic marvel together. Watch it for the thrill and surprises that crop up after almost every scene.
