Arlo Pro 3 Review

Arlo Pro 3 comes with a 2560p HD video display with 2K HDR sensors, color, and infrared night vision. The design of Arlo Pro 3 looks very similar to Arlo Pro 2. It comes in an oval shape with a wireless battery which can last up to three to six months. The device is water-resistant, and it can tolerate 14 to 113 degree Fahrenheit temperature. There are various upgrades from its predecessor Arlo 2, first is you can manually control the spotlight, which can be very beneficial for color night vision.

Arlo Pro 3 comes with a rechargeable battery which takes almost three hours to recharge via a magnetic charge cable. Arlo Pro 3 gives you one of the best video quality among its other counterparts. It offers 2560p HD, 2K video. Its HDR feature gives you a fantastic quality for outdoor light. Along with that, it also comes with a 130-degree horizontal view and 12 times digital zoom.

Arlo Pro 3 comes with two-way audio which can be very useful in your day to day activities like telling the delivery guy where to leave the package or telling your kids to come inside. You can back-up the footage on local storage and cloud storage for better security of your data. However, Arlo gives its cloud storage, which you can buy once your trial period ends.

It comes with smart platform integrations and enables you to make hands-free commands. It is fully compatible with Apple Watch so you can receive mobile alerts and use two-way audio. Arlo Pro 3 comes with its own AI that can detect a person and give you notifications you need. You can use the Arlo application to see live footage, use two-way audio, set up integrations, receive notifications, and more.

Final Verdict

Advantages: In terms of video quality, Arlo Pro 3 gives you above the industry standard of 1080p HD, and you also get a color and infrared night vision for better security during the night. It integrates well with smart platforms like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Watch, and more.

Disadvantages: However, Arlo Pro 3 comes with some downfalls as well, such as battery life. Arlo Pro 3 offers you a battery life of only three to six months, whereas you can easily get other alternatives with a battery life of up to one year. Its free person detection comes with three months of free usage, after that you need to pay to access this feature. It’s expensive, and just like Arlo Pro 2 and Ultra cameras, Arlo Pro 3 does not come in a single kit with a hub. So, for non-Arlo SmartHub users, it will be an added expense.

The curvy and plastic design of the device enables you to use the camera indoors, while the design is robust enough to weather the elements. Arlo’s latest SmartHub gives you better network connectivity between the camera and the router. The Arlo Pro 3 also comes with lower-resolution settings which enables you to operate with reduced bandwidth requirements. The existing users of the Arlo system can add Arlo Pro 3 as an upgrade to their existing networks and can enjoy the benefit of 2K video streams. Conclusively, Arlo Pro 3 offers live streaming, fast alerts, indoor/outdoor streaming, night vision with spotlight, water-resistant, above industry-standard video quality, and many other advanced features that you typically don’t get in other outdoor security cameras. Overall, Arlo Pro 3 is a versatile and reliable security system for quality-conscious buyers.
