Share Files via Basic Settings
You can tweak the basic settings to enable file sharing.
- Go to the Windows Search on your system.
- After that, input ‘file explorer’ into it and select the OK button to invoke the File Explorer.
- You should select the reach the folder you would like to share and right-click on it.
- Click on the Properties option.
- You will see a dialogue prompt. Move to the Sharing section via Properties screen.
- Then choose the Share option to appear into the centre dialogue section.
- You have to choose the group or user with whom you would like to share the folders and files.
- Now, you should choose whoever you wish.
- When you select with whom you would like to share the files and choose the Add option.
- Beneath the Permission Level, understand the permission type you would like to authorize to the group or person with whom you were sharing the files.
- There are two types of permissions choices: Read and Read/Write.
- You should choose the Share option.
- You will be asked if you would like to enable ‘File sharing for all public networks.’
- You can select any one choice. Select whether you would like the network to be a private network or whether you would like to enable file sharing for each network.
- Now, select the Done option applicable on the lower right side and choose the Close option.
Share Files via Advanced Settings
Sometimes, you have to access the Advanced Settings panel to set up network file sharing.
- Hold the Windows and E buttons altogether over the keyboard to invoke the File Explorer.
- Then reach the folder you would like to share, and right-click on it then choose the Properties option.
- You should move to the Sharing section through the Properties screen.
- Reach the dialogue section, select the button of ‘Advanced Sharing.’
- Then mark the box of ‘Share this folder,’
- Through the Advanced settings, Windows will give users ‘Read-only permission’, that means users should only see the files then launch the files, they can’t change or remove the files.
- If you would like users to modify, delete files, edit or create new docs into a similar location, then you are required to modify the permission.
- Then choose the Permissions option.
- Once you launch the permission screen, you will view that all are chosen as the standard group with whom you should file shares.
- With the help of the section beneath the ‘Permissions for Everyone’, you should modify the permission settings for a particular user or group.
- If you would like the user to launch and see the files and mark the box beside the Read option, and whether you would like the user to open, view, edit and delete the files.
- Later, mark the box of the ‘Full Control’ option.
- Now, select the Apply button pursued by the OK button to apply the changes.
